Some Loves Start Early!

When I was young, my father (who was the inspiration for Under a War-Torn Sky) used to make mini-books for me with blank pages and onion skin paper covers. I would spend hours filling them with stories and drawings. After he died, I found this book in a box of his things, written when I was in third grade. I suspect I had just read a novel about Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the American colonies. She and her family were members of the "Lost Colony" and legend has it that she was found and raised by Native Americans.

So clearly I was a historical fiction lover from early on!
